Family Therapy

Children do not exist in a vacuum. Because they live within a family system, it is sometimes necessary to work with other family members too. This way, the family can heal and recover together – as one. But Susan only works with families when it’s necessary as part of her work with a child or teen who is the primary patient. Those who need family therapy should seek a family therapy specialist.

Cost of Child/Adolescent Therapy

Susan passionately believes in helping children and adolescents. When a local mental health service is not available for a child, she may offer a reduced rate for needy families. Rates for self-funded therapy for children and teens range from £60-£100/hour (+VAT). Rates for organisation-funded therapy range from £100-£120/hour (+VAT). The hourly fee applies to therapy time with the child, parents, or family, and consult time with parents, schools, or agencies. Time to write reports will also be charged at this hourly rate.

Starting Child/Adolescent Therapy

Before taking on a new client, Susan Darker-Smith will schedule an initial interview. That could include a conversation with a child’s parent or parents, and possibly the child. If she believes the needs of the child are a match for her services, and she had room for a new client, you may book a session. To schedule an initial interview, click here to email Susan. In the email, provide your name, phone number, and some dates and times you’re available meet by phone or Zoom to discuss the help you seek.

Once Susan has agreed to work with you, you can book a session from the Book Therapy tab in the menu bar.
