Our Humanitarian Work

The Child Trauma Therapy Centre is affiliated to three separate Charities / Non-Profit Organisations

Trauma Response Network UK

Trauma Response Network (TRN) UK – a trauma response service for mass trauma and terrorist attacks within the UK and affecting UK citizens across the globe.   www.traumaresponsenetwork.org

The TRN UK is a registered charity which aims to respond to incidents of mass trauma with up to 8 pro bono sessions, delivered by trained EMDR clinicians who volunteer their time free of charge.   Susan Darker-Smith along with colleagues, including Professor Ian Barron founded the Trauma Response Network UK in the aftermath of the Manchester Arena Bombing of 2017.

TRN UK is currently responding to members of the public affected by race riots and Covid related anxiety and trauma.

Any member of the public residing in the UK and with a UK GP who has been affected by mass trauma and terrorism is welcome to self-refer to the charity for support and help (please see the link above).

C.H.I.L.D.

C.H.I.L.D. (Child Humanitarian Intervention, Learning & Development) is a non-profit organisation set up to provide affordable CPD events, child-trauma specific trainings and develop research into working therapeutically with children to help guide therapy practise.

No one in this organisation is paid but we all donate our time willingly to this cause.

Susan has additionally donated training places to therapists from Syria, Bosnia and the middle east as well as delivering low-cost child & adolescent EMDR trainings to countries who may be facing economic challenges in accessing training.

Susan believes that one EMDR therapist can make a difference : but an EMDR community can create miracles…
