Susan Darker-Smith

In 2017, Clinical Director of the Child Trauma Therapy Centre, Susan Darker-Smith and her colleagues set out on an exciting adventure to deliver an effective, efficient and professional clinical service to children, young people and their families which took the entirety of the system supporting the child into account.

Drawing on specialists in areas such as attachment, psychological trauma, dissociation, play therapy and youth addiction, the Child Trauma Therapy Centre is a centre of excellence dedicated to the well-being of children and their families.

Adults who have experienced childhood trauma may further have encoded these traumas at the age at which they first occurred - leaving many competent and professional adults to feel emotionally ‘vulnerable’ and ‘young’ at times when they are triggered by their environment. In such cases, Adult clients who have experienced childhood traumas may also benefit from a therapy team who are experienced at helping children recover from trauma.
